Planning a wedding sounds romantic until someone actually tries to do it. That is when the soft-focus fantasy of flowers, champagne, and eternal devotion collides with seating charts, vendor deposits, dietary restrictions, family politics, weather forecasts, and the sudden discovery that folding chairs can cost more than the furniture in your living room. I have always found it fascinating that we celebrate love by assigning two emotionally overwhelmed people the responsibility of coordinating a temporary restaurant, nightclub, fashion show, family reunion, photography session, and theatrical production. They are expected to complete this assignment while smiling naturally and pretending they have not discussed centerpiece prices at one in the morning.
