For a long time, the geography of LGBTQ America seemed almost preprinted. You could practically buy the map at the airport gift shop. San Francisco. New York. Los Angeles. Palm Springs. Provincetown. Fort Lauderdale. Wilton Manors. These places became more than destinations. They became cultural shorthand for the idea that there were corners of America where LGBTQ people could live openly, find community, meet people like themselves, and perhaps enjoy brunch without first conducting an anthropological survey of the surrounding county. But apparently the mortgage industry has decided that cultural history is adorable and everything, but have you seen interest rates?
