Week in Review: Copperas Cove Gets Hobby Lobby and Academy While Harker Heights Gets a Car in a House

There are weeks when local news feels carefully scripted. City council meets. Somebody approves a zoning request. A school board discusses a budget. A restaurant opens. Somebody complains about traffic. Somebody else complains about the people complaining about traffic. We all nod politely, pretend to be informed citizens, and go about our lives. Then there are weeks like this one. Copperas Cove apparently decided it was ready to level up its retail game with a new Hobby Lobby and Academy Sports + Outdoors, while over in Harker Heights, a vehicle reportedly crashed into an actual house. Not a mailbox. Not a fence. Not one of those decorative landscaping rocks developers put near subdivision entrances specifically because someone will eventually drive over the curb. A house.
