Animals, Their People, and the Glorious Absurdity of Being Human: What Britain’s Country Shows Reveal About Us All

CULTURE & SOCIETY | OPINION | HUMOR Somewhere between a sheep getting kissed, a cow meeting its human lookalike, and a horse wearing sunglasses, I began to wonder whether animals are the only creatures on Earth who truly understand how ridiculous we are. Inspired by Irina Werning’s photographic series, published in The Guardian, October 11, 2026 . The Guardian There are moments when I look at humanity and wonder whether we really deserve our position at the top of the evolutionary food chain. We have developed artificial intelligence, mapped the human genome, sent machines to Mars, and created technology capable of connecting billions of people instantaneously. And what do we do with these extraordinary accomplishments? We dress our dogs in matching shoes, put sunglasses on horses, and enter competitions to determine which sheep has the most magnificent backside. I suppose civilization was always going to peak somewhere. I recently came across a wonderful photographic collection by...

What to Expect from AI in the Future

You may not realize it, but artificial intelligence (AI) is already a part of your life. From the smartphone in your pocket to the recommendation algorithms on Netflix, AI is increasingly present in our everyday lives. And this is only the beginning of what AI can do. As AI technology continues to develop, it will become even more ubiquitous, transforming a wide range of industries in the process.

For instance, AI is already being used to improve food production. Farmers are using data collected by sensors and drones to track crops and soil conditions and using AI-powered predictions to optimize irrigation and pesticide use. This not only increases yields but also reduces wastage and environmental impact. Similarly, AI is being used to design more efficient buildings and transportation systems. And as AI gets better at understanding and responding to human emotions, we can expect to see its use increase in fields like healthcare and customer service.

So what does this all mean for the future? It’s clear that AI will have a profound impact on our world, making it smarter, more efficient, and more responsive to our needs. Some experts even believe that AI will eventually surpass human intelligence, leading to a future in which machines can think and learn for themselves. Today, AI is already able to create its own algorithms and code, which is much more complex compared to what can be created by humans. So whatever the future may hold, one thing is certain: AI is here to stay.
